When the Covid-19 outbreak initially hit London, the vibrant, multi-cultural South London hub of local commerce, like most places, faced the challenge of keeping local businesses operating while still allowing people to safely use social distance protocols.
Long lines formed on the narrow pavement along Atlantic Road, since shop owners had to limit the number of customers going in. The local Council of Lambeth — the borough of London where Brixton is located — introduced road closures, partly for road works on Atlantic Road and also as part of the Council’s response to Covid-19.
